Mid Term Portfolio
This is my favorite photo I have taken throughout this class. I used my phone to take this image about mid to late day in the woods behind my house. The shown onto the plant was filtered light from the trees above. I got down into a squat position and angled my phone to follow the plant which extended semi horizontally. This image was taken for the line and shape project because there are lines within the leaves stems and veins and it has shape in each of the leaves. The back ground of the photo fades away making the image sort of mysterious, especially in black and white because originally it was shot in color. The color balance also looks well. I can se the whites on the leaves and stem and black surrounding the plant.I thing this is my strongest and most appealing photo and I would certainly hang it on my wall.

The focal point of this photo is the bench which was taken midday, outside in the school courtyard. The subject of the photo is texture and pattern which can be seen in the the ground and wood of the bench. I bent down to angle the camera where someone would sit, so the seat of the bench and help e camera almost resting on top of the bench. I had the camera on manually so shutter speed, depth of field and such were normal but the bench is what is the focus. I feel the color balance in this photo was very strong and i feel like i could touch the bench and it would be smooth. I really enjoy how the wood looks.

I photographed this violin for the depth of field project. The camera was set on manual and had a normal shutter speed while the depth of field was set at a low f stop so that there was a small depth of field so only a little bit was focused. The body of the violin can be seen but it is not in focus while a small portion of the strings and upper body of the violin is in focus. The cracks can be seen and little bits of dust. I photographed it in direct light, there was an overhead lamp. The mood elicited from the photo is in my opinion like a sad blues mood. It looks like a lonely, old, dusty instrument. Because it is shot going down the violin i feel t is and interesting view and the colors hold the attention of the viewer.
